BIPA Inter-School Basketball League - Day 3 | Dehradun

On the third day of the 1stBIPA Inter-School Basketball League the action continues within the historically entrenched campus of Welham (Boys) School. The regional matches in the city of Dehradun advance further. Already from the pool of teams in this cluster we have some emerging title contenders but to clench the ultimate victory in this national competition, it is still a long way to go.

We see today two sets of both Under – 17 and Under – 14 Boys category matches but we also have our very first Girls Under – 14 match, where Welham (Girls) School take on The Aryan School. Both teams making a debut for the season are looking for that perfect start.

Under-17 Boys            

GRD Academy  Vs  Doon International (Riverside)

GRD Academy, coming into this fixture had a slightly better hand as having played one and won one against Jaswant Modern School in their previous match by the thinnest of margins. While on the other hand Doon International (Riverside) has had a mixed start to the competition; having played two and while winning one, lost the other. A decisive game for both teams, to not just gain momentum but to signal out to others that they are formidable competitors for title contention.

A fiercely fought match but in the end the victory was claimed by GRD Academy netting six points higher than their commendable opponents. The final score was 40-34 favoring GRD Academy. 

The score tally was as follows:


First Quarter:  14-10
Second Quarter: 12-13
Third Quarter: 06-06
Fourth Quarter: 08-05

Shivam from GRD Academy was the man of the match scoring a total of 15 points for his team.

Welham (Boys) School  Vs  Jaswant Modern School

Two teams coming from different ends of the table; Welham (Boys) having played one and won it by a comprehensible margin were gunning to keep their spotless record going, on the other hand Jaswant Modern School had played two and despite putting up a admirable fight had lost both their matches. In a match important to both these teams for two completely different reasons, one inevitable had to be the winner.

And sure enough, Welham (Boys) momentum was more than capable to see them go through. The match was secured by Welham at the final score of 48-21. 

They score layout in each quarter was as follows:


First Quarter: 23-02
Second Quarter: 14-07
Third Quarter: 07-03
Fourth Quarter: 04-07

Under-14 Boys 

Doon International School  Vs  The Aryan School

The second match of the league in the Under-14 category Boys was between two debutants; Doon International School and The Aryan School. The match at the onset was a fast paced game but Doon being slightly quicker than their opponents were able to claim a lead in the first quarter that haunted their challengers till the end. In the end Doon International were able to claim the victory, beating The Aryan School 33-20. 

The division of score across the game was as follows:

First Quarter: 10-02

Second Quarter: 11-10

Third Quarter: 02-02

Fourth Quarter: 10-06

Welham (Boys) School  Vs  The Aryan School

Having their seniors off to such a splendid start in the league, Welham (Boys) Under-14 team was looking to follow in exactly the same strive laid bare by their seniors. The Aryan School having played one already and unfortunately losing it were commendably back to face their next rivals on the court. Though drained but also in tune with the tempo of the game having played one before this, The Aryan School were on their toes adamant to win this match-up. 


The game even though was secured by Welham (Boys) by a score of 38-21, their opponents; The Aryan School won in spirit, not giving up till the very end.

First Quarter: 12-02
Second Quarter:  04-00

Third Quarter: 09-00

Fourth Quarter: 13-19

Under-14 Girls

Welham (Girls) School  Vs  The Aryan School

The first Under-14 Girls category match to be played in the league was held between Welham (Girls) School and The Aryan School. The game was won by Welham (Girls) School by a substantial margin of 34-16. 

The score layout was as follows:

First Quarter: 05-02

Second Quarter: 07-01 

Third Quarter: 18-09

Fourth Quarter: 04-04

BIPA Inter-School Basketball League - Day 2 | Dehradun

On the second day of the 1st BIPA Inter-School Basketball League in the enchanting city of Dehradun the matches ensued. There were two matches conducted on the day; both in the Under-17 category. After sensational performances by schools on the first day, the competition surely had standards to live up to and it sure did.

Under-17 Boys

GRD Academy   Vs  Jaswant Modern School

In the second game of the day, GRD Academy went up against Jaswant Modern School. GRD Academy came into the match as debutants while their opponents, Jaswant Modern School were beaten by Doon International (Riverside) in their previous match and were looking to set their loss aside and start afresh.

Unlike the previous match, this match delivered all the enticing bits a game could muster and till the end it was a neck-and-neck competition. In the end, however, GRD Academy clenched the winner by having a margin of 2 points ahead of their opponents. The match ended at 34-36 in favor of GRD Academy. 

The score layout was as follows:

First Quarter:  08-13
Second Quarter: 12-08
Third Quarter: 04-08
Fourth Quarter: 10-07
Satvik of GRD Academy was declared the man of the match by scoring 17 points for his team.


Welham Boys’ School  Vs  Doon International (Riverside)

Coming into their second game of the tournament at the back of a win was an ideal position for Doon International (Riverside) in this fixture, while their opponents Welham Boys’ were by reputation a formidable team but were making their debut in the league. An awaited game reckoned to be an enticingly competitive match.

The game however was a breathtaking display by one team dominating the other – Doon International were completely undone by Welham Boys’ in what was simply a knockout 70-23 in favor of Welham Boys’.

The score panned out as follows:

First Quarter: 17-0
Second Quarter: 11-04
Third Quarter: 22-10
Fourth Quarter: 14-09

Sheakh of Welham Boys’ School was the decisive man of the match looping in an astonishing 25 points for his team.

The Onset of the Country’s biggest Youth Basketball League - Day 1 | Dehradun

In a significant leap to help catapult the crippled condition of Sports in our country, HTC-Sports in collaboration with BIPA (Basketball Indian Players Association) launched the 1stBIPA Interschool Basketball league in the charming city of Dehradun on the 26th of October 2017. The league will span across 16 cities, which will eventually consummate in the end with a set of national winners in categories of both U-14 and U-17 for both boys and girls. The league could not have kicked-off at a better destination other than the Doon Valley of Dehradun which nestles at the foothills of the Himalayas banked on either side by the Ganges and the Yamuna rivers.

There were a total of three matches played on the first day; one in the U-14 bracket, the other two in the U-17 category.

Under-14

St. George’s College (Mussoorie)  Vs  Jaswant Modern School


The first match in the U-14 category was held between St. George’s College (Mussoorie) and Jaswant ModernSchool. The final score was 25 – 11, favoring St. George’s. The initial two quarters the St. George’s held a firm grasp on the flow not allowing their opponents to score. When finally the lads from Jaswant Modern School did open their score card, it was a commendable effort but unfortunately not enough.

The score layout was:

First Quarter: 02-00
Second Quarter: 04-00
Third Quarter: 03-05
Fourth Quarter: 14-05
Aditya from St. George’s College was the decided man of the match claiming 13 points for his team.

Under-17

St. George’s College (Mussoorie)  Vs  Doon International School

The first match in the U-17 category was played between St. George’s College (Mussoorie) and Doon International School. The final score in the match was 23-30, favoring Doon International School. Doon from the onset came out very strongly, bagging 15 points, while keeping their opponents at bay with 4 points. After surmounting this lead and building pressure upon it in each quarter, St. George’s simply could not overcome the deficit.

The point layout was:

First Quarter: 04-15
Second Quarter: 06-04
Third Quarter: 07-02
Fourth Quarter: 06-09
Ishaan from Doon International School was ranked as the man of the match bagging 15 points out of a total 30 his team scored.

Under-14

Jaswant Modern School  Vs  Doon International (Riverside Campus)

The second match of the U-17 category was pitted between the schools of Jaswant Modern against Doon International (Riverside Campus). The final tally was 17-37, favoring Doon International (Riverside Campus). What started as an evenly contested match soon turned into a one-sided affair. Though the first quarter was a nearly a tied contest, what followed after was a consistent performance by the victors.

The score layout was:

First Quarter: 06-09
Second Quarter: 03-07
Third Quarter: 02-11
Fourth Quarter: 04-08
Arim from Doon International (Riverside Campus) was the undisputed man of the match with a personal point tally of 22 points.
